Gun violence has always been a part of her life.
“We are the turn of this century. We are the voice of change. We are here to fix what America is falling short of.”
Alex Wind, 17, Parkland.
“People believe that the youth of this country are insignificant. People believe that the youth have no voice. I say that we were the only people who could have made this movement possible.”
Yolanda Renee King, 9.
Granddaughter of Martin Luther King Jr. & Coretta Scott King.
“My grandfather had a dream that his children would not be judged by the color of their skin but the content of their character. I have a dream that enough is enough.”
Edna Chavez, 17, Community Coalition, South Los Angeles.
“We should feel empowered and supported in our schools. Mi nombre — my name is — Edna Chavez. Remember my name. Remember these faces. Remember us and how we’re making a change. La lucha sigue.”
Tommy Murray, 21, attended Sandy Hook Elementary School during 2012.
“Keep fighting as hard as you can. Your voices are so important. Your stories have truly changed hearts and minds.”
Naomi Walder, 11, Alexandria, VA.
She and her friend, Carter, led a walkout in her elementary school on March 14th.
“I am here to acknowledge and represent the African-American girls whose stories don’t make the front page of every national newspaper, whose stories don’t lead on the evening news.”
D’Angelo McDade, 18, Chicago Cred, Chicago.
“We, as youth, must now be the change that we seek. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.”
